An investment is a position, not a statement
A bank account has a statement and reconciliation; an investment has a POSITION: what it is worth today, how much you put in and how much you took out. Update the balance when you look at the broker statement — monthly is enough. Return and yield come out by themselves from those three pieces of information.
What the investment is for
Each investment of the family or the person: savings, CDB, Treasury, fund, stocks, REIT, pension, crypto or a stake in a company. You enter the balance from the statement and the record shows how much it earned.
How to
Current balance and Position on
Current balance is what the investment is worth today, from the institution's statement; Position on is the date of that balance. Update both when a new statement arrives. Owner says which person owns the investment: that is how net worth and income tax are split.
Earnings and Return
Earnings is calculated: current balance minus what you put in (total contributions minus total withdrawals). Return (%) is those earnings over the money that stayed invested. The record also compares it with CDI and IPCA over the same period.
Rules
How the return is calculated
Return = current balance − (accumulated contributions − accumulated withdrawals). Yield = return ÷ (contributions − withdrawals), in %. Without a contribution recorded there is no yield — only the balance enters net worth.
Property is not an investment here
House, apartment and land go under Fixed assets, with acquisition value and depreciation. Here goes what is paper: CDB, Treasury, funds, stocks, REITs, pension plans. Net worth adds up both places.
Assets, quotes and dividends
On the investment card, the “Assets and dividends” tab keeps each stock, REIT, ETF or crypto with quantity and average price. With a quote provider set up (Parameters ▸ Family), the daily quote updates by itself and the investment balance becomes the market value. Without a provider, your declared position stands. Dividends come typed in or from the B3 “Dividends received” CSV — reimporting does not duplicate.
Assets and income
On the Assets and income tab, record the portfolio's stocks, REITs, ETFs or crypto with quantity and average price; Update quotes shows today's value. Dividends, interest on equity and yields come in one by one or through Import B3 CSV.
Frequently asked questions
I withdrew everything. Do I delete it?
No: mark it inactive and record the withdrawal. The investment leaves net worth and the history of what it earned stays.
Did it beat the CDI?
The tab shows how much the investment returned since it was registered (balance + dividends − your net contributions) next to the CDI and IPCA accumulated over the same period, read from the account’s economic indices. Without the index registered, a dash shows.
How do I remove an investment I closed?
Uncheck Active. The closed investment stays registered for history, but leaves the family's net worth.
