What it's for
A playbook is knowledge that outlives the person: how we build a squad, how we run a retro, how we onboard a new customer. FACTORY ones bring consolidated practice from public management literature; YOURS record the house way — and it's in them that culture becomes consultable text instead of oral tradition.

Rules

Factory × company
Factory playbooks have their own seal, are read-only and gain new content with product updates. The company's are written in simple markdown (titles in **bold**, lists with hyphens) and can stay as drafts until they're ready to publish.
How to use it without it becoming bureaucracy
A good playbook is short, opinionated and used — it's not ISO. Write the minimum that avoids having the same discussion twice, revise it when it hurts and delete what nobody consults. A good practice: end each retro by asking "does anything we learned today deserve to become/change a playbook?"
Watch out for the off-the-shelf playbook
Copying another company's process rarely works: the playbook describes HOW to decide, and deciding depends on YOUR culture (see the Company Culture screen). Use the factory ones as a critiquable starting point, not as law.

Frequently asked questions

Who can write?
Any profile with create access on this screen. The text accepts lean markdown and the reader renders it comfortably for reading. There's no approval flow in this version — the social agreement (peer review before publishing) works better than a workflow for most company sizes.
