One calculation, month by month
It starts with the account balances today. Each month adds what comes in and subtracts what goes out: open entries, the card statement by due month (with installments of purchases already made) and fixed bills not yet posted.

Rules

Overdue goes into the first month
An overdue unpaid entry does not vanish for being in the past: it falls into the first month of the forecast, because it will still leave the account.
Will it fall short in some month?
The red notice shows the first month with a negative balance. Postpone a purchase, bring an income forward or review the envelopes before the month arrives.
Month result and running balance
The month result is what comes in minus what goes out in that month. The ending balance is cumulative: it starts from the previous month's balance and adds the result. A month can have a negative result and still end positive — a sign that your savings are covering the difference. The last row adds up the whole period.
This month: what already happened and what is left
The current month block shows how much has already come in and gone out of the accounts (settled) and how much is still to come in and go out. Each bill you pay moves from "still to go out" to "already out": the end of the month only changes if you paid a different amount than planned or a new expense appears.

Frequently asked questions

Where to adjust?
Click a month: the detail opens with the biggest open outflows and inflows by category and by person (for whom), each card statement and the fixed bills not yet posted. The icon next to each group opens the entries list already filtered, so you can postpone, renegotiate or cut.
