What the Greige piece is for
The piece that comes off the loom gets a number, the loom, the warp beam, meters, weight and the weft used with its lot. Greige inspection uses the 4-point system — the same math as the knitting inspection: points × 100 ÷ (meters × width in meters); above 40 points per 100 m² the piece is second grade, unless you choose the grade. A new piece with weight and warehouse enters stock as a volume, with meters and grade, and moves on to indigo, dyeing and cutting.

Rules

A beam never gives more fabric than it has
The meters of a beam's pieces never add up to more than the warp meters, and their kilos never exceed the sized warp plus the weft declared on the pieces. When they do, Tenka refuses the piece and says how much went in and how much came out.

Frequently asked questions

Why was the piece refused saying the beam has no more fabric?
The sum of the pieces’ meters exceeded the warp meters, or the kilos exceeded the sized warp plus the weft. The message says how much went in and out: check this piece’s meters and the earlier pieces from the same beam.
