What the Tax setup assistant is for
Once your company's A1 digital certificate is here, invoices go from Tenka straight to SEFAZ — a path that is ready to switch on and being certified with SEFAZ. There are four steps: the state, the tax regime, the register invoice security code (CSC, provided by the SEFAZ portal) and the certificate. Next to each step you see your state's rule; at the end, Tenka tests the connection with SEFAZ using your certificate.

How to

How to get invoices ready to go out
1. Choose the company's state and tax regime. 2. Paste the NFC-e security code (CSC) and its identifier, provided by your state SEFAZ portal. 3. Upload the A1 digital certificate (.pfx file) with its password. 4. In "Who transmits the invoice", choose "Directly to SEFAZ, with my certificate" and tap "Test SEFAZ now". The test tells whether SEFAZ answered; invoices are only authorized once the company is accredited in the state.

Rules

What the state's rule decides
From what amount the register invoice requires the customer's CPF or CNPJ, the register invoice limit, from what amount the sale becomes a travel invoice, whether offline contingency is allowed and the default series. The register stops before going to SEFAZ when the ID is missing, with the state's sentence.
The MFE is gone in Ceará
In Ceará the MFE has been retired and the NFC-e replaces it. To issue: an A1 certificate, the NFC-e security code (CSC) and the company's accreditation with Ceará's tax authority. Ceará's NFC-e is authorised by the shared tax-authority environment (SVRS); confirm it during accreditation. Under the standard regime, items with CST 10, 20, 30, 51 or 70 go through your tax provider, and the assistant lists which ones.

Frequently asked questions

I don't have the certificate yet: can I sell?
Yes. Without the certificate, the invoice is issued as a demonstration and marked as such on screen and in the PDF; it is never shown as authorized. Once the certificate and the security code are registered here, the next invoices go to SEFAZ.
Why did the invoice come out as a demo?
Because the company's A1 digital certificate, the NFC-e security code (CSC) or the "Straight to SEFAZ, with my certificate" choice under Who sends the invoice is still missing. A demo invoice has no legal value and is marked that way on screen and in the PDF. Complete the four steps here and use Test SEFAZ now: the next invoices go to SEFAZ once the direct path is switched on for your company.
